Re: Club badge.

This has become topical as the club logo has been discussed at the Exec recently, and with a view to re-establishing the standard for club literature and publicity we are hoping to get the correct logo agreed at the Exec meeting later in the year. Current policy has included a range of different logos on clothing and other merchandise as well as different individuals using a range of alternative logos and images for different events and applications.

Having had a quick look through Jowett.net this discussion came up from 1965, and very much reflects the discussion that I have been involved with since the last meeting.

Thankfully there does seem to be some consensus in the article, with an outline sketch of the finalised design included so we have something to work from in creating the files for the club to use.

I have a variety of badges -- Southern Jowett Car Club, Jowett Car Club, Centenary Badge, pre-war lapel badges, and Jowett scripts and emblems from corporate literature which can all be thrown into the mix. The main critiscm of the badge below which went into production was the lack of the flat four engine or the pre-war wings. However it was a clean and simple design.

The logo on this web page was one I created using photoshop based on the Jowett lapel badge. I also 'photoshopped' the Jowett script used on T-shirt, sweat shirt and coverall printing.

My view is to use the wings for the club paper work, the script for any single colour logo and the spear for more modern items such as the car badge. But hey if the Club wants to rebrand to attract younger members then go for it!
