We occasionally get contact via the UK and Worldwide list and Worldwide map guest books and we have been remiss in following these up. So if anybody can respond to any of the contacts please do so.

Jowett owned now or past : Late father - approx 1958-60
Car type? : Black Jowett Javelin CMS 976
Comments : I recall my late Father had the Javelin for a couple of years around the end of the 50's. Aged about 4 or 5, I was a bad car traveller, so usually got to sit up front in the middle of the bench seat (arm rest folded up) between Dad & Mum, no seat belt of course & both of them usually also in full steam on the Senior Service - but I survived ! I have a vivid early memory of travelling the journey from a builders merchant in Glasgow to our new home then in Stirling in the car, fully (probably over) loaded with a couple of new tiled mantlepieces, hearth slabs, pup bricks, cement, boxes of wall paper, etc, plus Dad, Mum, big bro', wee sis' and the dog - somehow I had been placed horizontally on the back parcel shelf - but we made it home ! Remember too the clip-on rainy days picnic shelf that fitted behind the front seats and stowed on the back parcel shelf. Dad's Jav also had the optional huge valve powered radio - which he stripped from the car before selling it. It then lay in his garage for donkey's years before tragically being chucked out at a flitting. Dad often towed a caravan using a home made tow bar - which he also salvaged and hoarded for years ! He always looked back on the car with affection - except for the electrics. He reckoned the dash electric clock drained the battery, and that the very low-set flat 4 spark plugs were useless in the various fords on the roads then around Stirling. He used to recall many an occasion having to dry the plugs by the roadside with a cig lighter. I have various pics of the Jav in use which can be shared to your website, if wanted - please advise. Anybody know the fate of CMS 976 ?

Re: Guest book.
This is really one for Eden Lindsay, but is interesting . It would seem Mr Laws bought the car second --or more-- hand in the late 1950s. There is no record of CMS 976 in the 2008 list , but the number is from Stirling , Scotland issued in late 1950. Probably long since gone to scrap . Perhaps his son Stuart would like to join ?? Bob
