Shock absorber repairs
I am restoring a 1949 Bradford here in Brisbane, Australia.
All 4 shockies are leaking and therefore need overhaul.
The arms also need refurbishment.
I received a quotation for this work that was a shock to the budget.
I have been informed by the repairer that the early versions are not worth repairing as the later version is improved in the body design.
He advised that I obtain these and have them repaired.
What advice can you provide?

Re: Shock absorber repairs
In the UK we apparently now have a company which will refurb for JCS, though not sure fine details the prices were very reasonable.
We have replaced the rear shocks on mine with piston type, without huge modification it looks like it will work and I suspect will improve handling a bit. When back in UK I can take some pics unless you are tied to the lever arm type.
Jack.

It rained a bit, so have come inside to drink free beer before dinner.Forumadmin wrote:Jack,

Cave diving tomorrow, so I'd better keep off the tequila!

Re: Shock absorber repairs
Hi Ross,
I have had Bradford shock absorbers and links rebuilt by Autolign in Christchurch NZ (192 Wordsworth St, Waltham 8023 ph +64 3 377 0660). They will also refurbish the links. If the body of the shock absorber is unserviceable they can replace this with an alternative body (morris minor or 105E Anglia I believe). Give them a call (talk to Barry) or check their web site out http://www.autolign.co.nz
There is quite a bit of info on the web if you google Armstrong Lever Arm Shock Absorbers.
Regards
