It is already evident that Keith's new site for JowettTalk has interested a few of the members that know a lot about the technical side of our vehicles. Hopefully after Keith has publicised the site in forthcoming Jowetteer magazines we can expect to see more of these useful technical articles, as well as interaction between our members both here in the UK and world-wide. We have over 600 Jowetteers in the world, and at the moment about 17 have registered to be able to log on to this wonderful new JowettTalk website. I personally am avidly following the putative blown head gasket saga. Nevertheless, perhaps many of our older members have not yet experienced a paradigm shift and become adept in all matters cyber. I know I haven't. It may be of interest to ask through the good offices of the monthly Jowetteer magazine just how many of our Jowett car Club members actually have access or even an interest in the Internet. If it is a relatively low percentage, then perhaps some other method of spreading this technical know-how and general Jowett Talk should be investigated. However I know that if you have found this new site, and wish to view it regularly, that if you right click on the window when the new JowettTalk comes on your screen, you can left click -Add to Favourites- and it will be easy, subsequently, to access it from the left hand side of your Google screen. O.K. Keith, I know that's as basic as it goes, but many of us need leading by the hand. This said, I expect the forthcoming articles in the Jowetteer about the new site will have many more of us in regular touch with each other over the internet, even if we just want to read what's going on without getting involved. Has anyone a comment on this? Regards, Tony.
Why don't you ALL register? I personally know (surnames ommitted) perhaps over 150 Jowetteers. So where are you - Geoff, Christine, Roger, Mary, Sheila, Louise, Michael, Ian, Pat, Alan, Peter, Noel, Keith, Ray, Eden, Ed, John, Pauline, Keith, Doris, Ian, Pauline, Tim (nice but dim), John, Drummond, Ruby, Ray, Gordon, Anthony, Alf, Audrey, Jhorma, Bill, Sandra, Duncan, Danuta, Tom, Malcolm, Wendy, Lucy, Hilary, Craig, Ian, Bill, Peter, Alan, Steph, Colin, Andrew, Michael, Ruby, Hamish, John, Jackie, Yvonne, Lillian, Gordon, William, Pat, Mike, Jenny, Frank, Peter, Geoffrey, Joyce, Keith, Edward, Susan, Alec, Gladys, Gerry, Eric, James, Dilys, Michael, David, Barbara, John, Mary, Richard, George, Bernard (my mate), Dennis, Tony, Robert, Freda, David, Bridget, Bob (my other mate), Mo, Ray, Ian, Greg, Tony, Jack, Marjorie, Michael, Pauline, Steve, Richard, MKO, Kathleen, Elsie, Duncan, Harry, Sidney, Peter, Bill, David, Geoff, June, George, Emma, Wes, Bob, Doris, Alan, David, Margaret, Jack, Margaret, Dennis, Audrey, Neil, Michael, Richard, Stephen, Allan, Alan, Nora, Anthony, Anne, Simon, Oliver, John, Belinda, John, Douglas, Sylvia, Margaret, Peter, Sheila, James, Ian, Keith, Mike, Geoffrey, Andy, John, Marie, David, Jan, Graham (x2), Steve, Lesley, Keith, Heather, Keith, Patricia, Leslie, Michael, Sandra, Jem, Keir, Pearl, Ray(NZ), Arthur, Marianne, Frank, Peter, and also John and my other friends in the Antipodes.
If I've missed out any of my acquaintances, I apologise, it's past two o'clock in the morning now! I hope you will get in touch. Bye, Tony.
Having written this, I'm surprised at just how many Jowetteers I actually know. I'll bet it's even more as it's about 44 years since I became a Jowett owner. (I still have my first Jowett!!). It is evident that if you stay in the JCC and attend the various meetings, and get involved with what's going on, you will never be alone in this world, whatever happens to your circumstances.l

Lovely post!
I hope the additions to the help section http://jowett.org/help.htm
lead our anteduluvian members through the maze.
Why not email your Jowett friends and tell them about Jowetttalk or use the telephone and tell them about the Internet and the joy you have using it? Also write to the Jowetteer!
Only this morning, I had a phone call from Howard C asking how to fit springs on Jowett 8 brakes. I (nor jowett.org) could not help, but soon on JowettTalk there should be a way to do it posted. I hope.
If you have ever fixed a problem that was not in the manual please tell us about it.

I agree with you Keith. What a fantastic post from Tony. I see an executive post looming here for an internet evangelist (no not one of those American preachers) to spread the news of the new JowettTalk. Tony you have my vote. - 2am - devotion beyond the call of duty!
Joking apart This is an excellent forum and I agree it should be more widely used. The membership list gives lots of e-mail addresses maybe we should divy them up between us and send a link to each with a comment like "have you seen this????"

Despite all my efforts (using Adobe Photoshop Elements and something called Photosuite), I cannot produce an image file of less than about 16KB to meet the Avatar limit of 6KB. Even a B&W image of about 10 pixels square results in 14KB with my available software! Any suggestions?

Hello Eric.
I must confess that my son Richard who lives in London doctored my digital photo that I've used as an AVATAR image, because I hadn't a clue how to do it. I don't feel as useless now someone else is having difficulty.
Because of this, I emailed Rich and have pasted his email reply below. --
Open the original image in photoshop
Now Create a new blank document in Photoshop (doc 1)
Make sure the new blank document is 72 dpi resolution and 80 pixels by
80pixels
Crop the original image into the shape of a square using the rectangular
cropping tool.
Drag the cropped original image into "doc 1" and scale it down to fit the 80
x 80 pixel box
Now 'Save for Web' (if possible) doc1 as a jpeg at 60% quality
Alternatively, "Save As" doc1 as a jpeg at 60% quality. --
This is me again. It still looks rather hard to do, but someone may be able to help. There may even be a simpler way to do it, we'll have to 'wait and see'.
Best of luck,
Tony.

Tony,
Thanks for your comments. Just to close the loop on this one: as should now be apparent, I managed to resolve the problem (using my old Photosuite programme), shortly after I posted the question. Over the years, I've found one of the best ways of causing myself to solve a problem is to post a question here! Keith also privately suggested using MS Paint, which everyone should have, and apparently can do the job.
So now all we need now to get everyone going is to follow Keith's proposal by all downloading Skype, getting a suitable phone or headset, arm ourselves with a noggin, set a time, and we can all natter!
Cheers!
