These 8 1/2 inch hubcaps were used by Edward Tordoff, an apprentice at Jowett in 1945 to make a fruit bowl for my wife's great aunt Jean Waddington on her leaving the company to emigrate to Canada. She was PA to the then owner of Jowett. Perhaps she was of romantic interest to Edward. Edward left Jowett to set up in business in Bradford in 1946 selling cars at Brooklands Motors. Brooklands became Tordoff Motors and later under his son Jack's management became JCT 600 now one of the largest car dealerships in Britain. The hubcaps travelled to Canada with Jean and returned on her death to Guiseley, her original home. They were then passed to us by Jean's sister Peggy, now almost 100 years old. They are still joined together with a bolt through the centre but otherwise in pristine condition. Perhaps one of your members would like to make an offer for them as they are or to use as parts on a car. Minimal repair would be needed to seal the hole in the centres. Any more details I can give on the telephone.
