Bradford Van on ebay

Post by nigel jarrett »

Has anyone seen the Bradford van recently listed on eBay,I was studying the pictures and it appears that the wood frame has been replaced with a square section metal tube frame with the panels hung on and the roof looks like 4x2s ,the floor looks like wood planks .
Looks like the bidding is strong at the moment
have just purchased a javilin and will need all the help i can get

I saw it on there too - as you say a metal tube frame and 4x2 timbers in the roof.

I liked the comment, you will need a trailer as the wiring is not connected - I think there may be other reasons to need a trailer!

I would be concerned that some of these Bradfords that are being dragged outof barns and finding their way on ebay will either be broken up or just used as a source of parts after they add up the cost to restore

That is true of all Classic Vehicles, there are very few that are investments, the majority are labours of love.
Do not get too sentimental they are just bits of metal and wood.

£3,600 for a bag of broken bricks - someone is going to be disappointed when that arrives - that is unless they have an ulterior motive - anyone notice the rather desirable 'FF' registration number - it becomes a whole lot more desirable if you transfer it to your Jenson FF Interceptor

Do vehicles have to be MOTed in order to transfer?
https://www.eliteregistrations.co.uk/Se ... OfTransfer
Participating vehicles must be currently licensed, of a testable type, and be available for inspection. However, applications involving unlicensed donor vehicles will still be considered if the application to transfer the number is placed within FIVE years of the most recent TAX expiry date and provided there has been no change of keeper since the tax expired and SORN was declared. (Note: In order for a vehicle to qualify for the concession, there must be no break between the expiry date of the licence and the commencement of SORN. In circumstances where the vehicle has had a change of keeper, the vehicle will need to be re-taxed by the new keeper in order to qualify for transfer).

If the donor vehicle has neither tax or MOT, the donor would have to trailer the vehicle to their local DVSA INSPECTION CENTRE for inspection (if required).

Vehicles which (because of their age) are levy exempt (vehicle tax is free), must still be taxed and be renewed each year.

Vehicles which (because of their age) are MOT exempt (pre 1960), will be required by DVLA to undertake a voluntary MOT in order to qualify for transfer.

That's interesting this van has now been relisted by the same person so I take it that the winning bidder suddenly realised what he was going to get for his money

Hi guys I am the one who purchased the pigs ear Bradford from ebay
I was aware of the less than perfect box steel body when I bid as I was looking to make it into a pickup and the er um body frame was going to be trashed anyway but now I have it home I'm thinking I would like to restore it to a van
I am quite used to basket cases having restored 3 VW splitscreen vans as vans are my thing but I'm gonna need a lot of help from you people
Basically I need any ash frame bits out there, good or able to be copied or a blueprint with all the dimensions on
I may be mad but I intend to be driving this down the road by June at our local classic car show
The upside of this purchase is it came with loads of spares ie engine, gearbox ,steering box, bumpers and panels so I have bits to trade
If you guys are anything like the Vdub guys I know you will all help to make this happen
I await you're help and advise and many thanks in advance

Join the club and you should be able to get some of the parts from Jowett Car Spares.
Drawings and manuals are here on JT in the Technical Library but you will need to join the club to view.
