Problems Setting Up the Gear Linkage!
We have now successfully fitted our"new" gearbox but are struggling to set the linkage up to enable us to select the gears.
Reverse in particular seems to be a problem. Although it seems to go in it doesn't seem to properly engage.
The gear operating shaft comes down and abuts against the eccentric part of the circular stop and it seems to not go far enough across to let the gear fully engage. The stop post has a groove in the top as you know. Should it be possible to rotate the stop post so that the gear linkage is then butting up against the narrower part of the elipse or are we barking up the wrong tree!
Any advice would be most gratefully received.

Take the operating lever off and put the box into reverse using a spanner. Then try putting the operating lever back to see how much needs to be ground off it.
I do not know if the stop can be rotated

Harry, I had similar problem way back, it turned out to be the ‘reverse gear’ selector fork worn where it makes contact
with the reverse gear. I had it filled with Braze & dressed back to standard.
I remember someone else also had the same issue causing jumping out of reverse.
