Javelins in Motorsport

Post by MarcusN »

Hello,

As a motorsport enthusiast, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using a Jowett Javelin as a race car?
I have noted that they were used in a few rallies back in the day and some did quite well overall.

I was wondering if any one could help me out with the following:
Modifications carried out?
Where are they now? - Does anyone know if any ex-race spec cars are about? Would be nice to see one of them up close.

I am still on the lookout for a Javelin and would love to participate in some historic rallies with one. Ideally looking for one that requires a bit of restoration (don't want to convert a concourse one!).

Many thanks all for your help,
Marcus

Lots on JowettTalk about competition tuning. The mechanics are the same as the Jupiter which has more racing history both in period and ever since.
The basic principles are lightness, power and reliability. Suspension and gearing can also be modified but you have to get everything through scrutinering.
