Engine numbers

Post by Au5t1n7 »

Hello,
I recently purchased and engine, which I believe to be from a 1920's Jowett (1929 perhaps based on the number) but I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit more information or point me in a suitable direction re books that might be worth getting?
Thanks in advance. Tim

Since posting this, it appears it may be an 'overseas' engine as it has the magneto as its ignition. The engine number is 2c 924969. Does this date it to 1929?

Thanks for that. I wonder if anyone can tell me what the correct magneto is that was used with these? Although there is reference to it in the library, I can’t make out the make and model. Also, what are the chances of someone having one for sale?
