And the new bearing that replaced the one that failed on way to Le Mans

Cleaned up commutator on lathe.

The dynamo bearing was replaced as follows.
Undo nut holding pulley and use puller to remove pulley. The key was difficult to remove and was done using a precision engineers vice.
The two long screws holding the two end plates together were removed. The rear plate with brushes and the stator winding case could be removed.
The shaft was then pressed out of the bearing.
The bearing is encased with a plate rivetted in. The peaning was drilled off and the three rivets punched out.
The new bearing was fixed with permanent Loctite. The reassembly was basically in reverse taking care to push brushes back when inserting the commutator. Care was also taken to replace the spacers at each end of the shaft. The oiler was filled with oil and replaced. The key and pulley were pressed back in.

I did not need to as I have a selection in stock. With care you can reuse the old ones which I did with two. But plenty of different sizes are available.
