2023 Oct events

MIDLAND SECTION I should be telling you what a great time we had at the Gane’s field
party, but as some of you will be aware it had to be cancelled following a burglary of the
outbuildings. You can’t hold a field party when the field has been churned up in the process.
No cars were harmed but equipment and tools collected over the years were taken.
Richard values all the support he has received from Jowett friends - and is already planning
an event for next year.
August 9th saw the official handover of the defibrillator - with Richard’s Javelin and Lorna’s
Jupiter (piloted by Gavin) having pride of place in the photos (see separate entry).
Another Javelin (Cliff and Maddie) and Jupiter (Len and Sue Peach) graced the car park
too. We were pleased to welcome Len and Sue for the first time, making 19 of us for
lunch.
Please note an extra event for the diary at Papplewick Pumping station. There will be
Jowetts on the Saturday, contact Gavin (gavinwalker8@gmail.com) - Sheila Rigg

The presentation of the AED (Defibrillator) and Emergency Bleed Kit
to Gary and Gill Buswell of “The Lime Kilns” Wednesday 9th August 2023
The Midland Section of the Jowett Car Club have commemorated the Centenary by
donating this Emergency Equipment to ‘The Lime Kilns’ in appreciation of their generous
hospitality to the section for many years.
The Lime Kilns is situated on the busy A5 Watling Street trunk road just south of
Hinckley, Leicestershire (LE10 3ED) and is a canal side hostelry on the bank of the 1798
Ashby Canal which runs from The Coventry Canal in the west to Measham and Moira in
the north-east. The location of the Emergency Equipment will provide the local and wider
community with a potential life-saving facility. Many leisure boaters use the canal and
moor at ‘The Lime Kilns’ for refreshments; the towpaths are used by many walkers
throughout the year.
This section has previously raised funds for the Air Ambulance Services and last year,
2022, funds were raised for The Guide Dogs and subsequently are proud to have a dog
named ‘JOWETT’ (see Jowetteer November 2022 page 7). We would like to think that the
above acts keep the name of The Jowett Car Club to the forefront and in perpetuity beyond
the Centenary Year. - Craig Ainge
