JOWETT visits in NZ

Post by Drummond Black »

Ruby & myself are having a great time in New Zealand. Been to the very top of North Island and now heading to the tourist attractions in the south.

Turned up at a Jowett meeting this morning and met many more members and their cars. They were competing on a 100 mile economy run. Wonder who won ?? Earlier I was under a Jupiter at 6.30 am sorting out the brakes so it could pass its test ( our MOT ) which it passed on a Sunday morning. This enabled Bunty to take part. All good stuff.

We are currently in Palmerston North visiting Leo Bolter. Currently inspecting his JUPITER. Love the colour. Moving north again tomorrow,

Drummond.

NZ Visit

Post by Drummond Black »

Well folks, this is our last night in New Zealand and Ruby & myself are currently being hosted by Keith & Debbie Andrews in South Auckland ( or near !! ). Bradfords, computers & Jowett chat !! God , got to get up to catch the 7.30 am plane back to Australia.

Earlier today we visited Jim Scott in Massey, Auckland to view his collection, taken by Bunty. We counted 21 cars / commercials of various makes. A one hour planned visit ended up being 4 hours. To add to the " Jowett afternoon " Ken Brownlee & Neil Moore turned up.

Ruby says " another day " but enjoying it. So our New Zealand will very soon be ending and we have enjoyed every minute. We should be back in the UK within a few days.

More reporting when we get back and have a good sleep.

So it's goodnight from us and goodmorning to you.

Drummond & Ruby

Ruby and Drummond, it was so good actually meeting you and having you stay with us. Although it was just a matter of hours that we had with you we certainly covered a huge amount of subject matter . . . and that doesn't include Jowett natter. Both Val and I remarked that when we met it was just as if we were meeting up with old friends we'd seen a few days before. . . we appeared to just carry on the previous conversation . . . .

We hope you enjoyed the Art Deco city of Napier on your way northward to fly out and that the weather was fine there . . . . it usually is in Napier. I'm lead to believe the news of you coming got to the City Fathers in advance and the citizens had time to organise a street parade in your honour. A edited video can be found here . . . :D It's a pity you guys have been completely edited out of it! http://www.artdeconapier.com/ADW_Saturd ... o_110.aspx

Once again . . . thanks for devoting some of your precious time in NZ to coming all the way down south to visit us.

In case any of you may be wondering . . . there had been food on the table as well as the drinks :D

See ya.
Val and Leo

Deb and I have to reflect the same as Leo, a very pleasant laid back eveing, with Drumond and Ruby on their last night in NZ.
Deb put on a good old fashisoned Kiwi Leg of lamb roast, home made gravy etc, to send them on their long trip home with full tummies.
It turned out so tender i couldnt carve it.

Sat around chatting over glass of wine so long it got too late for them to have a spa.

Good people, if it wasnt for the accent, they would make great Kiwis.
