Robin, Mine leaked badly also, and so I did remove the reservoirs and attempt to seal the back plates with silicone sealant. Also I installed new trunnion tube "O" rings. While I think I may still have some leakage (I'll try to check the level in the spring before topping up). Last spring I topped them up with some 75/90 synthetic gear oil that I had on hand.
